Fireworks Text Art to Copy and Paste (46 Designs)

Text Fireworks Blog

Tap Copy on any design below and paste it straight into a message. Emoji-based designs work everywhere. ASCII designs made of slashes and asterisks only line up correctly where the font is monospaced, which rules out most chat apps but works in Discord code blocks and terminals.

Tap Copy on any wish, then paste it into your message. Or turn one into an animated fireworks card you can send as a link.

Every line below has a Copy button. Emoji designs are safe everywhere; the ASCII ones further down need a monospaced font to hold their shape, which is explained at the bottom.

Classic ASCII fireworks

These need a monospaced font. They look correct in Discord code blocks, terminals and plain text files, and they collapse in most chat apps.

Why some designs break

Chat apps use proportional fonts. In a proportional font, a full stop is narrower than a capital M, so anything relying on characters lining up in columns collapses. This is why ASCII art looks perfect where you made it and wrong where you sent it.

The fix is a monospaced font. In Discord, wrap the art in three backticks to force a code block. In Slack, the same. In WhatsApp, iMessage and Instagram there is no way to do this, so use the emoji designs instead.

Emoji render differently per device. The same emoji is drawn by Apple, Google, Samsung and Microsoft with different art. A design that looks balanced on an iPhone can look lopsided on Android. Simple designs survive this; complex ones do not.

Line breaks get eaten. Some apps strip consecutive blank lines, which flattens multi-line art. Test any tall design by sending it to yourself first.

Older Android skips new emoji. Anything added to the standard recently shows as an empty box on phones that have not been updated. Sticking to older, common emoji avoids this entirely.

Making the spacing hold

Use the ideographic space character (U+3000) rather than ordinary spaces for indentation. It is wider and, more importantly, it is not collapsed by apps that trim repeated ordinary spaces. Most of the designs above already use it.

Keep designs under about six lines. Longer art gets truncated in message previews and looks like a wall of symbols in a group chat.

Build outwards from the centre. Symmetric designs survive font substitution far better than asymmetric ones, because a small width change affects both sides equally.

The version that actually moves

Text art is a static approximation of something that is meant to move. If the point is fireworks behind a name, an animation does the thing text art is imitating: real letters, real light, real sound, and the person's actual name in it.

It takes about a minute, sends as a link, and does not depend on which font the receiving app happens to use.

Common questions

Why does my text art look broken when I send it? Chat apps use proportional fonts where characters have different widths, so anything relying on alignment collapses. Use emoji-based designs, or wrap ASCII art in a code block where the app supports one.

How do I paste text art into WhatsApp? Copy it and paste normally. Emoji designs work; ASCII designs will not align because WhatsApp has no monospaced option.

Why do some characters show as empty boxes? The receiving device does not have that character or emoji. Older Android versions in particular lack recently added emoji. Use common, older symbols for the widest compatibility.

How do I keep the spacing in text art? Use the ideographic space character rather than ordinary spaces. Many apps collapse repeated ordinary spaces but leave the ideographic one alone.

Can I use text art on Instagram? Yes in captions, bios and DMs. Keep it short, because Instagram truncates captions after roughly 125 characters and tall designs get cut.
